Insulation Installation

A GREENER FUTURE

To help secure the sustainable long-term future of Watford Colosseum and the Town Hall, a range of energy efficiency measures have been installed in the 1930s, Grade II listed buildings. This includes over 180 solar panels.

BECOMING CARBON NEUTRAL

Watford has declared a climate emergency and pledged to make the council net zero carbon by the end of 2030.

To support its commitment to sustainability, the council was awarded £3.2m government funding as part of the Public Sector  Decarbonisation Scheme run by Salix. It has been used to:

⦿ refurbish windows (decreasing energy transfer by 75%)

⦿ improve heating control

⦿ improve lighting and introduce cavity wall insulation (saving 166 tonnes of carbon)

⦿ install over 180 photovoltaic panels and storage (saving 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually)

⦿ redirect waste away from landfill (99% was redirected)
