Partner sought for Watford Town Hall Quarter transformation

Watford Borough Council

Watford Borough Council is taking an important step in progressing its plans to revitalise and improve the landmark area around Watford Town Hall...

The council will shortly invite applications for a joint venture development partner for its ambitious Town Hall Quarter programme. It is seeking a partner that shares its bold vision and will seize the opportunity to work with the council to help rejuvenate the Town Hall Quarter and create a vibrant and attractive new neighbourhood.

The Town Hall Quarter scheme, approved by the council’s Cabinet in January 2021, signals a major investment in Watford’s heritage, culture, local jobs and future prosperity.

Several interlinked projects will, together as part of the programme, secure the future of two of the town’s most significant heritage buildings – the Town Hall and the historic Watford Colosseum - and open up the area around them for new homes, business space, and attractive places for all the community to use and enjoy.

As part of their application, developers will be asked to put forward their proposals on how they can add value to the scheme, setting out how they can combine their experience and creativity to successfully support the regeneration of the area.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “The Town Hall Quarter is an exciting opportunity for the right developer to join us to create a distinct and exceptional scheme right in the heart of Watford. We are looking for a partner who can blend a good understanding of heritage with leading edge design and innovation, working with us to deliver our ambitions for a thriving, prosperous and welcoming town”.

Further information will be available from 10 April in Estates Gazette
